Jude is trying to go back to normality after a terrible accident that caused him a life-threatening head injury.

But what is "normal" when you don't know how this happened to you, entire portions of your memories are gone and you are progressively going blind?

Who are we, if we lose our memories?

And what does this world soaked into darkness look like?

What if we could see beyond the reality presented before our eyes?

At first sight the definition of average, 30-ish, introvert, very solitary, Jude seems to be the kind of person who would pass through life remaining completely transparent to society at its best.

Until one night, an inexplicable accident changes everything.

Jude spends days in a coma, weeks in hospital, and finally surrenders to his mother’s insistence to move back with her for a while, at least until he’s completely recovered.  But he never will: the terrifying truth is that Jude won’t get his memories back and soon will be completely blind.

But, as his field of view decreases, shapes and images start to appear in his peripheral sight: his blindness does not seem to be just black.

Distracting and completely random at first, these scenes turn out to be visions from Jude’s past, present and future.

Soon Jude realises that this “blindsight” holds the key he’s been so obsessively chasing: what happened that night?  Why was he attacked?  What part of his forgotten identity can he unlock?

Jude is tormented by the urge to try anything that could give him clues about his accident, but at the same time, pushed to rebuild a semblance of normality, as a reassurance to the few people he really cares about.

Back to working at the record store “the Vinyl Solution”, the Boss is keen to say all it’s needed for the job are gifted ears and music knowledge… The stock ever hardly changes anyway!  And Maria from the coffee shop across the street keeps preparing the usual sandwich for Jude’s lunch, packed with a ton of love.

Everyone’s effort is focused to say nothing is going to change.

But what about Jude’s mother? Who’s going to watch out for her when he’s blind?  The infinite warmth in her smiles has become just too painful.

The blindsight takes more of Jude’s sight and attention, with complex events now unfolding and the recurring presence of the same young man, who’s clearly someone very significant. Over and over again, Jude’s face on the ground, a pool of blood expanding under his forehead, and this guy alongside him: Jude is with him the night he was attacked.

Finally able to unlock his phone, Jude discovers more of the life he ever hardly shared any details of, even with the closest friends. No messages, no recorded contacts, just the obsessive repetition of photos of the same young man from the blindsight: Jude needs to find him.

The last photos in his phone, taken the night of the accident, draw a map he can follow to retrace his steps.

Alone and nearly completely blind, Jude fights his way through the city, determined to reach his last destination: “Splinter”.  This very exclusive place is surely not an avenue for common mortals, let alone someone like Jude.  And yet here he’s finally face to face with the person he was looking for: this is Canice.

What answers are holding the key of Jude’s past?

And how will they shape his future?

What definition of reality are we about to see?
